Looks like Tommy boots to kenel __1653_FC4 by default hence $KVER resolving to that version. I have fixed that by editing /etc/grub.conf.
 
In /etc/grub.conf set "default" to 1 or 2 depending on whether kernel __1656_FC4 is is listed as the 2nd or 3rd option in the conf file. This ensure that $KVER resolves to 2.6.14-1_FC4 and the command "yum-kmdl-$KVER" will get a match in the ATarpms. This assumes that you did a yum upgrade and hence you have the latest kernel.
 
Note that this may screw up your nVidia graphics card drivers if you installed. You just have to repeat the installation of the graphics drivers then.

No, you only need the kernel sources if you wnat to build kernel
modules, not if you just want to download the kmdls and use them.
