I know what you mean, my cosmo teacher did not like nails at all, I am a full
cosmo doing nails only now. We had to use OPI odorless acrylic, very hard to
work with, I hated it. Funny thing though, she had me doing full sets on
clients that would call in for a cheap set. I basically had two weeks of
classes total, that was for all nail services combined. I have had to rely on
you all on these sites and tutorials and whatever I can find to learn. I did
learn alot from fellow techs at a Spa that I worked at. Don't know where I
would be without their help. I was able to go to an IBS NY show back in 2004
and that so far has been the only thing I have been to. I have only been
doing nails professionally since around August of 2005. I now have a shop in
my home, just me and my daughter who is a full cosmo doing only hair.
I will have to save up a special secret stash so that I can come to one of
your classes, they sound so amazing and so fun. I will forever have tons to
learn, I can't get enough. I so look forward to it someday.

Shannon one of our own was the reason they got hyped and were
excited to come. Shame on the teachers or school. I bet shes a cosmo teacher
that doesnt like nails!!!! and a job not a passion for the industry to produce
some killer techs.
Thank you also for your interest in the class..hope to see you at one
oneday..I am doing my best to see that we get good rates .. as we grow and
reach more interest in coming, I would love to take down the price of the
class. Lets hope for better things to come for everyone in 09.

Sounds like they are desperate to get their hours in. They probably have
no clue as to what the "real world" is like out here. I know when I was in
school, I hadn't a clue either as to what I really didn't know until I started
working. But I am also one that craves more and more, I can't learn enough.
I know the next time I see that HRTE class nearby me, I am going to jump on
it, hoping I have enough money for class and hotel. That is my issue.
Is there any way you can go and explain to them, that all they are being
taught is to get them through the test and not what they really need to know?

IMHO, they have a rude awakening coming!! This industry is not
about self serving techs. This is a customer service industry! I kind of feel
sorry for them because they have no idea what lies ahead.

Here we have girls going thru a nail technology course...all ready
to come to a class for $50. and backed out because they realize they arent
getting hours from the school?????????? They want to become part of the nail
profession yet to me this looks like they think they are going to come out into
a gravy job and dont need further education...would you not jump all over the
opportunity to mingle and learn from those that are already successful and
willing to share???...instead its all about getting hours... am I all wet over
here or is this insulting??
Mind you it wasnt the money issue...
I am so disappointed in thier behavior towards this opportunity.
