Jennifer,
I FEEL your pain, too!
One thing to remember is that water is THE most common skin irritant. You may
have the patch from the monomer overexposure, but watch and see if water
irritates it more.
My eczema is the worst it has ever been in my entire life. I took pictures but
it has since calmed down considerably, but it is still bad.
Last week I had quite a few pedis and the water just about drove me nuts. I am
not one to wear gloves for several reasons: it is hard to work with them, they
make my hands sweat and the biggest reason is that the gloves also irritate the
eczema. I cannot win in this situation.
Not only is the water irritating, but I it exacerbates with the massage creams.
I have been using Haken for years and now it is hurting my skin.
This website has some good information:
http://dermnetnz.org/dermatitis/hand-dermatitis.html
Also, I have been taking generic Benadryl hourly. I do not take the recommended
dosage because it makes me too tired. I take the kids liquid and just take sips
every hour on the hour. It really helps and I am not sleepy!
I will post the photos of my hands on my Facebook if you want to see what I am
dealing with. My hands look awful and have never been so dry and ugly! I am
cracked and bleeding in the one knuckle today.
I heard oil of oregano helps, so I have started taking the pills and am putting
the oil on the skin at night. Just an FYI--tea tree oil does NOTHING. It just
smells good.
I do not recommend using cotton gloves at night if you opt to do the glove and
oil thing. I will wear plastic gloves, but then I have to rip them off since it
bothers me. (Yes, I said the plastic gloves irritate the skin more, but with
the oils on the skin, it provides a barrier. )
Best of luck with this problem. I will guess that you too will have to suffer
with this the rest of your life.
buenos dias,
Lynnette

Subject: NailTech:: Reaction

Hi everybody I hope all of these great Nail Techs are doing good today :)
Lately I have been having product sensitivity it stinks my middle finger where
I hold the brush is red and itchy this is becoming extremly annoying to say the
least I am using a metal brush I am thinking my monomer is seeping down the
barrel and hitting my finger this never happen when I used a wood brush I know
you guys are going to say wear gloves but thats a pain in the ass too anybody
out there have product sensitvity or am I the only one ??? This truely sucks
you can't imagine. I am going to take a benydril to stop the itch right now. I
switched Monomers already so its a general reaction to monomer I think .
Anybody ??What are your thoughts on this one ?? Jennifer
