Hi Val, I had the surgery on my right hand in 1996 . My hands are good. I have no problems. I am so glad that I had it done. And I didn't even do nails then. I don't think you will be able to work for 3-4 weeks. I went back to work a week later and my hand swelled up. Looked like a baseball glove. But, it was workmen's comp who sent me back. A private doc wouldn't do that. You will be week at first but with pt your strength will get back to normal or better. Don't be discouraged. Since I was not a nail tech then I can't tell you how it will effect you. I do know of a very prominent nail tech that has had the procedure twice and was glad she had the second. Why don't you contact your local beauty college and see if there is a student that is close to graduating or has graduated and would apprentis for you. I know that the opportunity to work with someone already established in her career would be a awesome opportunity. jmo.
