Diana, I have to laugh because I can remember when you were a diehard
acrylic gal. Now you are teaching other techs how to do gels, LOL

Caralyn, sorry, this is my term for soak off gels. And Lynnette, if I
had a camera that worked, and then even knew how to get it on the
puter I would!!LOLO

Caralyn, there are traditional gels that you file off and then there
are soak off gels that can be removed by acetone. I was looking for
a name for my new natural nails with gel overlay service and decided
to call it a Soft Gel Manicure. I have switched several ac clients
over to soft gels (soak able gels). This type of gel is great for
clients with great natural nail shape but their nails keep peeling,
chipping or breaking. Not for the client that needs length or
shape. I would describe the gel as a super duper base coat!!!!!

I have several nurses now that wear them because there is zero
lifting and the polish stays on, or they can go natural and everyone
thinks they have top coat on their nails, never dulls.

They come in about every 3 weeks for a fill. Now I know we are
taught not to file soak able gels, but I do. If you are careful, you
can file if off very easily.

I use this same gel for bling nails/toes. remove shine, remove
dust/clean, add your primer or dehydrator, apply small amount of gel
to natural nail, cure. Then I dip brush into the gel and then the
glitter and apply. I cure once again and apply a clear gel on
top. You can sprinkle the glitter, but too messy for me. May try to
pre mix the glitter and gel, but not at that point yet.

they have suggested to use the softer gel for toes so they can be
flexible. Now I will say I do break the rules when it comes to my
stylists nails. the softer gels are very porous and when they wear
it clear, any color will turn the gel yellow. Make up or suntan
lotion, and hair dye. So I use a regular top gel coat for their
nails to keep them from staining.

I personally think that the new soakable gels are so easy to use,
that it is a great start for all those ac techs out there to get the
feel of it. Start with the soft gel manicure and or bling nails, you
will get used to the way the brush and product moves. hope this
answered your questions. diana from indiana
