I remember in Florida the person at the desk told me if my name was in the DBA
then I wouldn't have any hassles or expense...so I was Heavenly Hands by
Patricia Schembari..on paper...I only used Heavenly Hands on biz cards etc. Not
sure if that was when I applied for a tax ID or something else....

Hi Lynnette,

??? I?know about getting the fictitious name, but wasn't?aware of "getting a
DBA". ?I just thought?when you?have a sole proprietorship and you list your
name and your company name on anything the DBA is understood.? My husband has
his own?Heating?& A/C business and his liability/business auto/workers comp
insurance policies say Charles Cianciotti DBA Cianciotti Heating & A/C,
never?paid for that or signed any papers to get it.? Or is that only if you
have a business name that doesn't have your name in it?? Sorry, I am?confused.

Shannon,
In PA -- I needed to get a fictitious name that no one else had. The DBA is so
I could also have my name on the accounts at the bank. I have it as: Lynnette
Madden DBA Salon 29. I did not have to pay for that in PA.
Buenos noches,
Lynnette

I think all I paid for my DBA was around $30 maybe even less than that.? I went
to the County offices and took care of it right there,? and they could look up
and make sure that no one else was using that particular DBA name.??? As for an
accountant,? the man that I used did not charge a consult fee, just a fee for
doing my taxes.? I am pretty sure it was around $237.??? This is all for being
owner of my own home shop.? When I was a booth renter,? in NY state I had to
have a booth renters license, and my own insurance.?? Hope this info helps.

Okay, so last year for taxes is no big deal...employee ;(-

?

However I just became my own boss as a renter and here is my
question...actually questions.? I am having a hard time finding an accountant
that won't charge me a $100 consultation fee just to meet them!? The one I did
consult with wanted me to form an LLC or a DBA, at the cost of $400.? ?????? As
a renter is this truly necessary?? And he thinks I may need a business license
seperate from the one the salon owner already has...again,more $$$$$.?

?

I am a bit overwhelmed by this revelation.? I am still looking for someone I
do?not feel is a crook to do my taxes.

?

Insight?

damn Lynnette, you beat me, Hope to have mine done tomorrow. Pam don't forget
car expenses and license plates and maybe insurance. In fact any insurance you
pay.any gifts that you bought your clients. Advertising, Even if you made
your own flyers on your own computer. Turn those numbers in. I personally
turn every damn penny I have spent in the year, and let the accountant figure
if it is deductible or not. diana from indiana At 10:51 PM 2/14/2009, you
