Kimberly
I too have recognized melanoma on the foot of 2 clients.? One is still in chemo
it was stage 3. And the other stage 1. So you never know what you are going to
run into when a client sits in your chair. Ya personal contact is nice but your
health is a lot nicer. Please protect yourself and your clients
Thanks for all the great info Athena. Specially the herpes. Ya know it never
crossed my mind. But that was awesome.
Have fun in Chi-town.

Kimbery,
2 weeks ago I did a pedicure on a woman who had a cluster of 3
blisters close to the cuticle on her big toe. I asked her about it and
she said that every once in a while she gets these blisters. So my
next question is.... Do you get cold soars? She says ... yes in the
worse way. So basically? the chance of her? transferring? her herpes
to her feet is pretty high. . Resulting in digital herpes.
I have studied closely the 9 types of herpes a person can contract so
I knew what I was looking for but the majority would not.

PPE-persoal protection equipment would be in need here. With out them
you are not safe. Period. This was not the? dr referred pedi that I
specialize in. It was a salon client.

I give a comprehensive foot evaluation. So when they check
Hepatitis.....at least I know.? What evaluation are you giving that
would make them want to share such a personal medical condition?

PPE"s are for your safety and? It is a smart choice.

On a more higher? note....I did recognize intra- digital melanoma
stage 2 on a client who works in a hospital.
Moles or hyper pigmentaion on palms or the feet of? causcasian? is
almost rare. Dark skin it is common. So when I saw a mole in between
the toes? that looked like a blurred freckle I insisted she get it
checked right away. I know I scared her even.
Cancer of the foot is one of the most deadly cancers because once
you realize you have it....it is usually too late.
Upside is it was caught in time. Need I say she is a client for life. :)
Now.... Go buy some Nitril Gloves.. :)
..I use Costo Kirkland brand a size smaller than my hand because it
should be snug :)

Hope all yall are well....I'm in Chi-town about to go into the show
.....Peace Techies:)

Hey Athena & Michele and...
Hey Sheryl !? How the heck are ya ?
So thanks guys ya,? I've heard Doug Schoon talking about Nitrile
gloves for YEARS but how is the fit ?
Do you get a snug fit on the glove so the pedicures is still smooth
and seamless for the massage or
does that seem to matter.? I have been gloveless all these years
( with a few exceptions)
I think it is about time I start wearing gloves.? I'm not a medi tech
and I don't work on any issues and funk.
but I'm just at a point where I would feel more comfortable wear
gloves.? I just want to make sure it is
comfortable feeling to the client.? Any more comments about your
gloves of choice.? I'm a costco member so woo hoo !
