What worries me is the concern of hand sanitizers. Actually ran into a college student yesterday that refuses to use hand sanitizers because it kills the good bacteria. Well, guarantee that bad virus and bad bacteria will kick the good bacteria's butt. She says I wash my hands, but I asked her, but how about when you don't have water around???
As Erik stated, the CDC says that alcohol based hand sanitizers do work. I have a 54 page book wrote by the CDC about handwashing, and states the same thing. (I am not saying non alcohol based sanitizers don't work). My point is many will not use hand sanitizers because they think it won't work, it won't kill the flu virus, I will become immune to it, etc. etc. But if you are in situations where you cannot wash your hands, hand sanitizers will have to be used to stop the spread of the flu/colds. And if you want to take this further, does hand washing with soap and water kill swine flu or any other flu? I mean think about it, does Dove, SoftSoap, Dial kill a virus? Does water kill a virus? NO. You are washing away the host, the droplets, dirt etc, down the drain. You are removing it. And yes soap does kill bacteria/germs, not all. You are removing it when you wash. And also don't confuse EPA disinfectants that kill hep and hiv with handsanitizers, because the disinfectants are for our tools, tubs etc. To kill these virus you would have to soak your hands for 10 minutes!!! And talk about being harsh, wow. Just worried that some will refuse to use hand sanitizers. Atleast we are around water, but how about the rest of our days/lives? Our client's days?
