Hi All, JoAnn from Ultronics here. I have been reading the threads on swine flu and hand sanitizers. I spoke with Simmy yesterday and I did explain a few things to her.
The swine flu, now called H1N1, is from Influenza type A virus (H3N2) and the Avian Influenza Virus (H5N1). Yes, our surface disinfectants, like Ultracare does in fact kill these viruses, but there is no claim for the swine flu, as this new strain in now Human to Human. It does take approximately 2 years for testing and EPA approval. Most important is personal hygiene. You should wash your hands between clients. Your hands should be clean before you touch your face. As your face is the point of entry for any virus to enter (eyes, nostrils and mouth); especially if someone coughs or sneezes and does not cover their face or wash their hands. Ultronics does manufacturer Ultracare for Hands. Ultracare for Hands is an alcohol free hand sanitizer. The active ingredient is benzalkonium chloride. Ultracare is effective against *Staph Aureus, Psudomonas Ageruginosa, Aspergillus, Candida Albicans and e-Coli*. These are listed right on our label. If you cannot get to soap and water, please use a hand sanitizer, until you can wash your hands. For those who have said that they are using gloves, you still need to wash your hands after you remove your gloves. I am here is the office if anyone has any questions. I am traveling this weekend, but I will have my computer and blackberry to try and answer any and all questions. Also here is the latest update from WHO. Swine influenza - update 5 from the World Health Organization 29 April 2009 -- The situation continues to evolve rapidly. As of 18:00 GMT, 29 April 2009, nine countries have officially reported 148 cases of swine influenza A/H1N1 infection. The United States Government has reported 91 laboratory confirmed human cases, with one death. Mexico has reported 26 confirmed human cases of infection including seven deaths. The following countries have reported laboratory confirmed cases with no deaths - Austria (1), Canada (13), Germany (3), Israel (2), New Zealand (3), Spain (4) and the United Kingdom (5). Further information on the situation will be available on the WHO website on a regular basis. WHO advises no restriction of regular travel or closure of borders. It is considered prudent for people who are ill to delay international travel and for people developing symptoms following international travel to seek medical attention, in line with guidance from national authorities. There is also no risk of infection from this virus from consumption of well-cooked pork and pork products. Individuals are advised to wash hands thoroughly with soap and water on a regular basis and should seek medical attention if they develop any symptoms of influenza-like illness. Have a safe day!!!
