From: Diana Bonn <[email protected]> Subject: NailTech:: definition of pandemic/don't panic To: [email protected] Date: Thursday, April 30, 2009, 12:18 PM This flu has scared many, and some are over reacting. So I looked up the WHO (world health organization) definition of pandemic. pandemic: The worldwide outbreak of a disease in humans in numbers clearly in excess of normal. The WHO rates a pandemic from 1-6, with 6 being the highest, and they just raised it to a 5 last night. Just regular flu approx. 35,000 die a year. So why the reaction over this one? Because it spreads so fast, and thousands or millions will get sick all at once. With regular flu, guess it is balanced out over a time period, but this one, hits hard at once. that is why they are trying to contain this and trying to stop the spread. That is why the President urged those that are sick to stay home, or stay away from school. There is no vaccine but the medicine they have is available. On the news they stated that we have 50million doses at this time. And the medicine is the same medicine that fights the flu, not a special one just for this flu. And also they are worried that if millions get sick, the economy will get worse than it is all ready!!!!! The reason it is such a worry, that more people will get sick because more people have it. So it is not the plague!!!!!!!!!!! Just use common sense. Just wash those hands, have your clients wash their hands and spray your kids down with Lysol, LOLOLOLO diana from indiana --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "NailTech" group.
