Where I used to work we had the big spa tubs that were on wheels. We ran the tub and the OPI spa clean for 15 min after every client, then we used a deluted solution of Spa Clean to spray the top, inside and outside of the tub and wipe them down (some scrubs leave an oily residue like the one from OPI that smells like raspberry). every friday night we did a "bleach soak". after the last pedicure we cleaned as usual with "spa clean" then we ran bleach water through the jets for 15 min and let sit over night. drained it in the morning and ran just plain water to make sure all the bleach was out. where I work now we use the little tubs and we soak them in bleach for 15 min. I just recently purchased the Belava pedicure system. It has the liners that you throw out after every client (I recycle them, gotta do my part for environment). I LOVE IT!!! and my clients love it too!!! Even with the liners i still spray the tub with Disenfect from Tammy taylor just to make ME feel better. Cira

The one thing we need to know is that the woman who died supposedly from the pedicure was never proven by autopsy. The ONLY way that could be fact is if the autopsy found it to be true. One of the women did not have an autopsy and the other woman's autopsy did not conclude finding the pedicure to cause her death. This information I found online. I use a few different products, however, because I don't feel that once a week is enough. Food for thought: say for instance your clients introduces some "BUG" to your spa...then another client introduces yet another "bug", this is on, say Tuesday and you haven't ran bleach for a week or two. so then you have all these "BUGS" multiplying at a rate we probably couldn't comprehend. So what happens in the meantime?? I think doing more, more frequently is the safest approach to protect my clients. I like to use bleach only because it complies with state rules. But I feel a deeper responsibility to my clients and their safety, so I use bleach...OPI spa complete (It is EPA registered) but also I like the product made by Virox for the chelating effect ( ACCEL). I just feel like after the death in Texas by pedicure a few years back, you can never be too careful.(granted, I understand the wman who passed has a compromised immune system) Anyway, Just food for thought Nicole Tausch Shopping for Mom?
