All new tecs start out @ 50% commission. Then depending on their progress move
up to 55%. I supply all but their own brushes & implements.
Nothing over 55. But they also make money on retail products that they can sell.
That's my going rate.

It sounds fair to me. When I had a salon, I paid 50% comm. I supplied all
supplies except the nail techs ac brush and implements. I paid for all adv.
also. You should ask for 60% when you are pretty much booked or ask to go
to booth rent. I didn't offer 60% because I wanted them to go to booth rent.
Less paperwork for me. Hope this helps.

Subject: NailTech:: Comission percentage in a salon

It's been a long time since I have worked in a salon as a nail tech. I
am trying to make sure that what I am being paid is fair. I am being
offered 50% comission and they are supplying the product. I work full
time and I just started today. I have not bult up a clientel yet but I
will very quickly. Is 50% fair or should I ask fo 60%? And since they
are supplying the product, there are some things that I may purchase
and I am going to ask them to reimburse me for it. What do you think?
