Lynnette, I feel for you girlfriend... The people who do get their "gels" or acrylics from the "" shops just rant and rave about the great $ and how "hard" it is... They also show it by banging it on a table saying "See? Bang, bang, bang... "How strong+hard? Bang, bang, bang..." It's hilarious yet frustrating, no matter how hard we try to explain the difference to them, most of them just don't get it... Arpi Sekeryan Sent from my Verizon Wireless

She came to me from a chop shop. When she called, she said she had gel nails on. OKAY, we have all had this and we KNOW that 99.9% of the chop shops do NOT do gels. Sure enough, she had MMA on her nails. Fast forward to two weeks ago. Two days after her last fill, she calls me and says she wants to talk about getting gels. We played phone tag for few days and finally I just left her a message that explained gels to her. Well, today she comes in and just would not let up on this gel thing. Her friend has gels. She goes to this place in Limerick and gets THE most beautiful gel nails. I tried to get more info on these gel nails and she said her friend KNOWS because she is a tech. (works at Lords and Ladies--so of COURSE she knows more than I do!! ) I ask her the name of the "salon" because that is usually a give away. USUALLY. No bashing here, because this is how it is here anyway. So tell me more about the gels. Well, they are more flexible than acrylic and you can only use non-acetone on them. REALLY?? Well, I know some of you think gel is more flexible. I find it to be quite hard, much harder than acrylic when I wear them. We may not agree on this, but this is how it is for ME. So I told her that you can use acetone on acrylic and gel unless it is a soakable gel. Is it soakable gel, because THEY are more flexible-- depending on the brand used. NO she said... it is GEL... This is true because her friend told her so. And she knows because she is a hairdresser. Well, she said a nailtech. So why does your friend not do her own nails? Well, because this guy is the best. I wanted to stop doing her nails and tell her to just go to this guy. EVERY time I do her nails, she comes back filed down quite a bit. Then she complains that they are too thick. Her nails are not thick when she leaves, but when she files them down, she is at the arch and YES they are thicker there. WTF??????????????? So I go to this website of the "salon" where her friend goes. GEEZUS.... it is a freaking chop shop. Sorry, but it is how I see it. They are in Limerick, where people have LOTS of $$$$ and can afford upscale prices. This is NOT a salon. It is a chop shop. No matter how you dress it up, it is a chop shop. I could not get through to her about this. I wanted to do P&W gels on her today, but she was late and I had to hustle to get her done before my next client. Plus I am on day two of a migraine. I told her that I ONLY use 100% acetone. If any tech tells you that you have to use non-acetone to remove polish from acrylic or gel because it causes lifting has NOT kept up with trends and education. I also told her about greenies not being MOLD or FUNGUS and she questioned me on that. Again, WTF??? I am half tempted to go to this place just to see what it is all about. OH, she also told me that they have big screen tv's and all this high tech stuff there. Yep, WINDOW DRESSING. No matter how you cut it, it is still a chop shop. The chop shop I went to long before I did nails is now ABSOLUTELY gorgeous. Cherry tables, beautiful chairs and waiting area. BUT, no matter what it looks like, it is still a chop shop. It is amazing what people see and what they want to believe. Honestly, I do not want this client to come back. So thanks for letting me vent this..... I still have the migraine!!!
