Debbie, I had the same problem... drove me crazy. I tried the Tammy Taylor file as well and it did the same thing. I found a great file from Jaime at www.precisionnails.com It is stainless steel with replaceable pads and it works so good. I wouldn't use anything else. Try this one, I know you'll be happy.
