Well, I made it ALMOST 3 years, but as of December 1st I will be, once again,
the captain of my own-- albeit tiny-- ship.
This is my official announcement of the re-opening of the Art of Nailz.
I just couldn't take it anymore. When I want to change the paint on the walls I
want to change the paint on the walls! When I want to advertise I don't want to
get caught in the "do I use MY name or the SALON's name" quandry. And when the
owner of the salon where you rent a station tells you that people have been
asking if she sold the salon to the manicurist...? Well, that's a sign that
things are going to get uncomfortable around the salon and friendships are
going to end if someone doesn't start making changes.
Since no one else showed signs of making any changes... I decided it was time
to move on.
I was fortunate to benefit greatly from the recent economic downturn and take
advantage of the fact that not only is small office space plentiful around town
right now, but also the cost of rent has plummetted to very reasonable rates!
Not to mention that property owners who were previously not too hip about
having a nail tech in their pretty office buildings are now enthusiastic to
welcome me aboard! LOL.
I have a small (216 sq ft) office space on the 4th floor of a historic bank
building in our downtown district! It's a got a great view to the east of the
Sierra Nevada (on clear days, when we can see them) and up Main St...everyone
is excited to have a warm place to sip cocoa for our local Christmas parade!
And Starbucks is on one corner and our local brewpub is on the other!
I'm pretty excited!
