I agree about the network events Jill.

I think one reason you see more hair booths is that many of the hair
companies are giants in the industry. They have much more money
available to spend on trade shows.

Most nail companies are much smaller and just don't have the resources
to do trade shows. The costs are outrageous and many of them lose
money doing trade shows. There was a recent thread on the message
board about buying on line from Chinese mfgrs and how those mfgrs are
selling product directly to the consumer that many companies purchase
for sale in their busniess. We do need to support the companies that
support us and our industry. Nail mfgrs are choosing not to do the
expensive shows but they certainly are supporting our network events
around the country. You will always see the big nail mfgrs at the
shows but maybe attending a network event might suit techs better as
far as exposure to numerous products and classes.

Given the current economic state, it should be interesting to see who
will and will not participate in this season's shows. I know in my
graphics industry, mfgrs have told me they have had to cut back on the
number of people they take to shows due to the attendance being down
and the costs up.

Jill has a wonderful event planned. Jess Hoel and I have planned a 4
day retreat this year that we are still working on the lineup of
educators that should be an incredible event. It's an all inclusive
event, lodging and 3 meals a day included. We are still looking for
educators and already have registrations in. One unique feature to
our event is that October when the event is held, is Domestic Violence
Awareness Month, there will be a seminar on how to recognize DV and a
portion of every registration goes to a local DV program.
