Ellen,
That is exactly what the last gift show I went to did. NO purchases there. They
had displays and you had to order from there or get a rep to come see you.
I LOVE this idea. Would save lots of $$$$$ . I actually wrote about this back
in January. The idea just works.
On another note-- I am pro union. We need jobs to stay in our country and keep
great salaries. Some people may not like it, but they sure do not complain when
they work for places like Merck or union car companies. JMHO

Subject: Re: NailTech:: why support large trade shows when they don't support
        us nail techs? LONG

Kudos to Elaine for putting together some great deals for show
attendees. I think many techs expect bargains at shows and should get
them.

There have been some great things discussed in this thread. I think
sample sizing on nail products is the best idea. Tech's will pay for
sample sizing if they want to try products before purchasing.

I know unless you have been in the position to have a booth, it's hard
to explain why the cost goes so high. I remember one year in New York
they charged us $800 just to move our freight (1pallet) from the dock
to the both and back. That's after the shipping cost to even get it
to the dock. It's just unreal the costs. It was mentioned by Renee
to take orders and ship the products. I would like to know how many
of you would like that idea. I think local techs might not like it
but those that fly in would think it would be preferred.

I can only guess at why the supply houses are not carrying as much
nail items. As discussed, most of them are owned by one company. If
there is something you think they need to carry, ask them, write
letters, email, it can't hurt.

I just like to remind techs to support the companies that are really
trying to support the industry. Without the support, many of them
will cease to exist.
