I tried it on my self a few years ago and the polish wasnt totally dry, the
top coat and polish slid off my nails. So i tried it again, i had to file
it off and accidentally filed my natural nail too. I dont think a polish
base coat is thick enough to safely file it off jmho.

several problems from that...
1- if the polish is not bone dry...after the gel is sealed on top..it
sometimes can still "move" cause the bottom layers are not dry. Takes too
long to dry completely then apply sealant and cure.
2- a real PITA to remove....the polish on the bottom causes the bit to get
gummy...If you try to remove just the top sealant part it is almost
impossible not to get some of the polish also...
Years ago I did do this to MY nails so I could work and not mess them
up...but it was not worth the aggravation ...JMHO
3- becomes too thick also....
