I have always wondered about this. We have been told over the years that nothing will make the nails grow--pertaining to oral supplements and such, so how can taking meds affect whether or not a product will adhere to the nails? Or dry them out? I DO know that meds will make hair dry. Older bladder meds will definitely affect the hair. From personal experience, years ago, my hair was soooo dry from those meds, but my nails never suffered. I am not saying meds will not affect adhesion, but how can other meds/supplements not help? It has to work both ways. Laura, I have had thyroid clients over the years and never had any problems. I think you are right-- she is OCD and I sure hope she will not pick at them. I have not experienced lifting with gels. At least not with the Jealousy Gel. (as a footnote: My thyroid has not been stable and I have been dealing with continual med changes over the years). Have a wonderful Sunday everyone!!! Della In a message dated 4/24/2010 11:49:40 P.M. I had one problem child that lifted -6 every week, but when they changed her dosage OMG it was horrible.. I had to become a regular detective to figure it out, but I did track it.. I did a natural nail overlay a week ago and she came back 4 days later with (slight) lifting on one nail. She phoned two days after that to say they were all lifting now. She’s coming in tomorrow and I am either going to remove the product or repair it. I use traditional gels. I have to say, the lifting I saw on the one nail was microscopic, so I don’ t know if she is just uber picky or not. But in the meantime, in case there really is a lot of lifting tomorrow when I see her nails, do any of you know if thyroid meds cause issues with enhancements? I thought I read somewhere that they do…but I could just be imagining it. I do not have any lifting on any other clients and all the usual suspects have been eliminated (prep, bulbs, etc). I’m specifically asking here about thyroid meds causing this problem. Any and all answers will be appreciated!
