I have been telling my clients for over 20 years that they have to use oil. I told them to think of their nails like leaves on trees. While on the tree the leaves are supple and green because they are attached to their nutrient source. When they fall off they become dry and curl up. Same with their nails. Once the free edge is no longer attached to the nail bed it has lost its nutrient source and, just like a leaf, will dry and curl.

When I went dry manicures...everything changed drastically. No more swelling and shrinking nails. Also, when those clients that listened and did cuticle oil religiously (around the cuticle and BEHIND the natural nail free edge) they saw amazing results and kept with it.
