Lynette ! back in 2001 when I was with EZ Flow I was AGAIN shopping for quality places to work. I found the "best" salon in the area (which I have to say the salon/owner/managemet was EXCELLENT in many, many, many ways) I was doing informational interviews where I would go into salons before accepting an interview and I would actually "interview" them to see if I even wanted to work there. I grilled this owner for about 1.5 hours. I believed that she understood what I was looking for in a salon and what I would expect. After our interview I believed the salon to be up to my standards. However I found myself having to disinfect the pedicure chair I was using before AND after each client ( yes, cleaning then running disinfectant through it for 10 minutes) because after watching another technician "clean up" after her work. I was "talked to" because I was taking too long for my pedi appointments. I stayed with my own standards that I stated in my official interview and would also leave informational articles in the office for the owner. Then I realized that this same technician did not have a disinfectant jar on her station and watched her as she would tap her files ( just like you said) and put her dirty implements into the UV cabinet in the back room ( dirty) and take them out again and use them on clients. I had a friendly, informative discussion with her about this and of course she knew better because she was doing nails longer then I was and I didn't know what I was talking about. OF COURSE !!! So then the owner had to have a discussion with me about how I was "focusing too much on sanitation" REALLY ? So when I grilled you for 1.5 hours about that before accepting an interview at your salon...you were STILL not getting it ??? Needless to say I quit. This wasn't my first time to the rodeo. My own salon was the only one that met my standards. I will NEVER be perfect but I will always strive to do the best work I can and hold myself to the highest standards and continue to educated myself and I feel that EVERY nail technician should do this too if they want to call themselves a "professional" I'm so tired of "seasoned" nail techs that I see at educational events that sit there and all they are trying to do is find something that the educator is doing "wrong" instead of learning something new. I forgot who said this but I remember this saying " when you are GREEN, you are GROWING, when you are RIPE, you are ROTTEN". WE SHOULD ALWAYS BE GREEN !!!
