Thanks Karen, that helps alot. Does anyone know the actual size of the shellac
and gelousy bottles?
I'm trying to figure out how much it is really going to cost for the product
per service. Holly had posted how much for the shellac one time but that is
with the soak off pads. If you used the pads it would cost a little under $5,
is that right Holly?

Subject: Re: NailTech:: Pricing SOGs

I've been hashing through this myself....trying to think what I'll do. Right
now, I charge $35 for fills...I don't care what kind, P&W, color, regular,
Acrylic, Gel, Colored Gel....Glue and Powder... all the same. One hour, $35
bucks. My manicures are already higher than anyone in town...Perfect Sense
paraffin treatment, soakless, extra hydrating, great massage and the nail
finish of your choice (polish, buffed to a shine, clear coat, French...all the
same) and I book half an hour...$30 bucks. Like Diana...I'd rather have two
half hours of manicure than 1 hour of fills...yes I am working harder to stay
on track, manage another personality, pamper them, etc. but I make more.

I started doing colored gels on toes a couple years ago...no soak...just a
spritz with sanitizer, e-file away the old, prep for the new, book for an hour
and in my thinking...a fill is a fill...so I started with $35...the same as for
hands. But then there'd be those gnarly calluses on their heels and I just
couldn't send them out in good conscience without at the least a dry callus
buffing and an decent foot massage with an excellent hydrating foot cream. Well
that wasn't fair...more work than hands, to I went to $40 for a "toe
fill"...and still one hour.

Now along comes this hybrid service....very confusing! It's basically the very
same as a fill service...buff/soak away the old, prep for the new, apply and
go. It's ALSO the very same as a traditional manicure...remove the old color,
do the shaping, cuticle work, hydrate the hands and lower arms, apply the new
color and go.

I'm having a hard time distinguishing this product as something separate! If
I'm using it with nail enhancements...I treat it exactly the same way as any
other colored gel. If I'm using it with natural nail manicures, it's exactly
the same as any other maniucure except it takes a bit more work to get the old
color off! LOL

Right now, I am thinking that if my current clients have enhancements on, I
won't be able to charge any more...because they don't care if I soak it off or
buff it off...they just want their color pushed back up the nail to the
cuticle, and get me back out on the road. Same for toes...I'll just stick with
my "toe fill" price...and they don't care if it's gel or gel-ish!

But my MANICURE clients will be given the choice...longer wearing polish that
adds a bit of an overlay to your natural nails ...$10 more on top of my regular
manicure price. As for pedicures, my regular polish job lasts a good 4
weeks...and I honestly don't want them waiting any longer to come in! Ugh!

I hope to tap into a whole new "occasional" manicure market...new clients. Was
spoiled for years with a full book of set standings, but as I'm rebuilding, I'm
booking on the fly these days. It's a bit like para sailing...highs and lows!

Thanks Pati and Holly! I'll be thinking about my prices today. Got to get this
figured out.
Basically everyone is charging the same for sog manicures and refills, right?
Then adding a few dollars to the refill if they want gel polish? How much?
Add $10 to the price of pedi if they want sog?
If they don't want the full pedi but want to change their sog on toes then
charge the same for sog manicure?
I hate trying to make up price list and figure out how to word these things so
they make sense!

I don't know...now don't y'all jump down my throat BUT... that's a little much
to charge for basically a"change of polish" ...JMHO. She's not going to do any
callous work ... just trim the toenails and apply polish (SOG)... that is not a
basic pedicure. If she has a price for a change of polish... I would agree
that she should add 10.00 on to that. NOW if she has a clientele that has a
lot of money and they don't care how they spend it..hey go for it...

BTW.. I LOVE the Shellac on my toes (and hands) ..makes them look so shiny and
nice! I am able to wear sandals a little now so one more step to feeling
"normal"....

You still end up doing a basic pedicure, do you have a price for that? If not
with the pricing you have maybe do $23-25 for an "express" pedi which is
sanitizing, shaping, cuticle work, and polish. Then add your $10 on to that. I
hate to see you go that low though, have you raised your prices lately? 3.7% is
the cost of living increase you deserve annually ;o) october is an ideal time
of
year for an increase so all of you could be planning a course of action!!

Subject: NailTech:: SOG on toes

I haven't done sog on toes yet. I am thinking of charging $10 extra for the
pedicure. That is what I have been doing for the manicure. Then a client ask me
what would I charge if they didn't get a pedicure. I haven't thought that one
out yet. You still have to take care of the toenails. I charge $30 for my
pedicures now and I am going to charge $40 with gel polish. Do you think $30
would be right if they didn't want the full pedicure? The things they would not
get is the foot soak, scrub, callus treatment and massage. I charge $18 for a
manicure and $28 for a sog manicure. Thanks for any advice. I have a client
wanting this with her pedicure on Tuesday so I need to have my prices figured
out.
