Hi Elaine,
Thanks for the info, it makes sense. Will look into upgrading the bulbs for
sure!

Subject: Re: NailTech:: UV Gel Lamp! Found in storage area!

Hey Pam,

If the bulbs are listed as "4 watt" that lamp wouldn't work with any of the
gels in the entire Star Nail Company. 6 watt bulbs are pushing it these days.
They're mostly ok for clear. But anything with a pigment in it (white, color)
definitely needs a 9watt bulb to cure. It doesn't matter if there are several
bulbs. They still will emit only 4 watts just with better coverage. The watts
don't add up with increased number of bulbs despite some of us companies
calling a "36 watt lamp" 36. It's actual 4 x 9watt.

There maybe some companies out there that still only need a 4 watt bulb. But
I'd be shocked. That low emit is more like drying topcoat.

Low UV bulbs do appear to cure btw, but microscopically, the gel has uncured
bits and this causes allergic reactions over time.

Kind Regards,

Hi Teks,
I KNEW I had a nice UV gel lamp around here somewhere! I found it tonight in
my storage area. Brand new in the box! I think I bought it at the Nailco sale
a few years ago. The brand is "Au Lame" It is a 2 hand unit, so both hands
can cure at the same time. The price list has a retail price of $219.00. It
has a timer, although it is an annoying timer! It actually has a shrill "BEEP"
when it shuts off! Ew! I've gotta find that beep box and kill it! You can
set the lamp timer for anywhere from 30 seconds to 5 minutes. It has 5 bulbs,
and the replacement bulbs are listed as 4 watt. I wonder if I can upgrade the
lamp with better bulbs, although these seem to work fine. The kit also came
with UV gel topcoat for artificial nails, and UV gel topcoat for natural nails.
I tried the artificial nail topcoat on my nail, and it worked fine to cure the
gel. Has anyone heard of this lamp or this company? I tried a google search
and came up with a confusing trademark website.
Any suggestions?
Thanks a bunch!
