I asked Doug two pointed questions and below in bold are his answers

Simmy: So I'd like to know the following:

1. Does SOG get "old" and shrink aftertime causing the nail to curl
into an extreme C-curve. I have noticed that natural nails do this with a
SOG more so than a Non Soakable Gel.

2. Is SOG porous enough so that cuticle oil will penetrate through it
and into the nail plate.

Your input to these questions is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Doug: SOG are made to be soak-off, by making them easy to absorb
solvents so they can be quickly removed. This also makes them likely to
absorb other things, including stains, and water. As they absorb water,
they tend to swell and curl. All the problems you're seeing with SOG is
because they are designed to be easily attacked by solvents and water is a
solvent. In other words, everything that made UV gels enhancements strong,
durable and color stable, has been removed to make them "soakable".

Oil will absorb, but it's not going to make a soakable gel have the same
quality as a traditional UV gel.

Simmy: Thanks for your input Doug. I have one more question then. Which is
more effective in getting the oil to the nail plate, applying it over SOG or
the underside of the nail plate?

Doug: Underside is better by far!
