Hi Holly,

As a nail tech you cannot treat any disease of the nail. You could argue
that a separated nail could be a dysfunction rather than a disease. Your
State Board might not agree.

So here is our story.

We had a client that had been to a discount salon and her nail had separated
from the nail plate on her thumb. It was black and there was clear
separation. It had been that way for a few years. When she wanted to have
gels put on we told her that she would need to have that treated before we
could cover her thumb. So here is what she did:

She trimmed the nail back to almost the point where the separation started.
She barely had half a nail left. She put Fungoff on in the morning followed
by Gelousy Organic Cuticle Oil. Then she did the same thing at night.

She kept it trimmed short and over the course of a year or so her free edge
slowly crept back up to the normal place. Her nail has now stayed attached
for the last 6 months with no indication that there was ever any separation.

I think the combination of Fungoff and keeping it trimmed kept her nail free
of moisture so nothing bad could grow. Our Cuticle oil that has Tea Tree
and a Bioactive Treatment Complex that reacts with the live tissue as well
as the nail plate.

I can't say for sure that the nail didn't just heal on its own, but it is
better now.

So, the big question is.....after years of separation......has anyone ever
seen a treatment work at reattaching the nail plate. We have babied this
nail, tried various remedies for many years. From time to time it looks
better but it never fully reattaches, and eventually it goes back to the way
it was.

This client has no fungus....her nail plate is just separated from her nail
bed. It's been that way for years, and she is always looking for remedies
to get it to reattach

Has anyone ever heard of a med called flucanatole in DMSO (might be a
different spelling, can't really read the prescription) to treat and cure a
detached nail bed. My client had this recommended to her by a
pharmacist....apparently it is a prescription drug.
