Okay, get this....I got a new client yesterday. She was 16 and was getting

ready to be on her homecoming court. She wanted a pedi, full set and makeup

done. So when I got ready to do her full set, she shows me the nail on her

middle finger and said that she had no feeling in it at all, and it had

obviously endured some kind of major trauma. She said she had gone to one of

the NSS here in town to get her acrylics removed (this was several months

ago). They, of course, pulled out the pliers to pry them off. She questioned

them about it and they said it was "the natural way" to remove the acrylics.

They said that acetone would dry her nails out. So of course, it only stands

to reason that you would just pry them off with pliers, right? And they pried

off her whole fingernail right along with the friggin acrylic! She said she

jerked away and it was just hanging off, bleeding, etc. She walked out and

never went back. That was the second client I've ever had that literally had

nails pulled completely off by them when they were going to remove acrylic.

The other gal was a nurse and they pulled THREE of hers off!!! Completely

off--the index, middle and ring fingers. She said she nearly passed out. I

couldn't imagine sitting there letting someone do that! The first one, I

could see them doing something you weren't prepared for, but to let them do

TWO MORE?????? gawld!

Anyway, that was a new one for me----"the natural way". They actually said

that! And said it was "healthier for your nails" to pry them off like that,

because acetone---that evil substance---would dry your nails out.
