I am currently 'playing around' with a little 9 watt, one bulb
light. Is that sufficient, or do I need more bulbs to
properly cure the gel? I'm having good results, but with a few
chips here and there. Eventually I'm planning on
investing in an LED light. I have seen some of the UV lights for
$40 to $50ish price range (mostly in the back of Nails
and Nail Pro mag.) I wonder if anyone uses these, and if they are
compatible with all systems. And does anyone
know if all the systems will dry under an LED light?
Your little single bulb 9w lamp is not going to be strong enough for
the new soak off gel polishes. They all (to the best of my knowledge)
require a 3 or 4 bulb 36w lamp, most recommend a tunnel type lamp.
Not every UV gel, soak off or gel polish are formulated to cure with
the new LED lamps. If a product that was NOT formulated to cure in a
LED is put into the lamp, the product will not cure properly and
there is a possibility the client will experience a deep exothermic
reaction (the heat they feel in the lamps).
We currently have a great deal on our lamp that will be going off
deal Sunday night.

I caught something about Shellac needing a fan in the light to
dry. Is that accurate? I saw that one of the lights
has a fan on it. If anyone has this light, can you use it with just
the UV lights and not the fan on? Is it ok to use with
other gel systems, ei: Gelish?
If I remember a past post on this correctly, Shellac being a
gel/polish mix - the fan helps the polish part "wick off". A lamp
with a fan to cure a gel/pigment mix (eco, Gelish and others) will
have no positive or negative effect.
I know this depends on the area, but how is everyone pricing this
service? We were thinking of pricing it as an add on
service, to go along with any of the other nail services we
offer....is anyone doing this?
Generally speaking you should be getting $10-$15 more for a gel
polish application including the soak off of the prior color.
