$1 a minute should be right on. I gave Lorraine a spread sheet about 'what are
you worth' that she uploaded to her website. You just plug in your prices and
how long it takes you to do the service. Then it gives you an idea of what
you're making per hour on your service. The eye opener is seeing how some
service make you a lot and other don't.

Determining your worth per hour and per minute will answer any future questions
"how much should I charge?"

Hopefully, she'll see this and post the link for us. I'll add her as a cc.

Trust me when I tell you, you're clients want something...they'll pay. If you
let them exploit your service for nothing (pay) they will continue to take
advantage of that. Really! Do they go to the grocery store and tell the
clerk..."come on, just give me the eggs free today"? Why do they think they
can do it to you?

It's not fair. Until you're willing to risk pissing them off for a day,
they'll continue to abuse you financially. You have to say, "I'm worth more
than this and I deserve better".

I get it. I used to be the same way. Now that I've been to TCU (Tony Cuccio
University) I'll never be that girl again.
Kind Regards,

How much do you charge for simple nail art?

I have a client (A), she is a sweetheart, but I am feeling like she is taking
advantage of my generosity. The client before her (B), I have been doing
simple rhinestones, stripes, a flower sticker or dot flower on a couple of
nails each week (she has been a client for 12 years). This client (B) is, as
well a sweetheart, and somewhat of a lonely heart, so it makes me feel good to
make her feel special with my simple nail art. (B) always lets me do whatever
I am in the mood to do, whether it be simple or elaborate. (A) saw the nail
art I did on (B) about 2 months ago and I told her that I would not charge for
simple rhinestones, a dot flower on a couple of nails. She comes in ever other
week for a mani and the opposite week for a polish change. Well, about a month
ago (A) started to give me direct orders as to where to place certain "art" on
her nails and wanted art on all of her nails. Nice me, NO CHARGE.

Last week (A) came in for her polish change, directed to me what she wanted a
Halloween french, orange nail bed, black tip with a strip across the color
change and rhinestones on all 10 nails..... Ok...well this 15 min polish
change ended up being a 35 minute service......as expected NO CHARGE, the check
was already written out for a polish change NO CHARGE for the nail art.

Today, she comes in, sees (B)'s nails and says...oh that is cute...but I want
blah blah blah blah blah.....I looked at her, I guess stunned, and her response
is well....that is what I want. I went off and told her that if she was
planning on dictating to me what art I was to do on her nails, I would have to
start charging her because, I am intimidated by "specifics" when it comes to
nail art and if she wants "specifics", it definitely will take me longer and
that would warrant an additional charge (I was planning on talking to her
during her appointment about how a rhinestone or two, no big deal, but when you
start dictating to me what you want, takes more time, more supplies to
complete, I would have to charge for the art).
"But you don't charge (B)" WHAT!!!!! (B) doesn't dictate to me what to do, I
do what I want, she is happy, NO CHARGE.

Sorry for the long rant, but now.....back to the original ?.....how much do you
charge for nail art???
Thank you for your input!
