The gel colors that have been around awhile aren't gel/polish hybrids.
You can certainly tell the difference in the smell.  All the new
hybrids that have polish in them will still have some of the same
problem polish has - like the thickening.  You won't find that in the
traditional gel colors.

I teach in classes for students to sit on the small jars to warm it up
(Akzentz Builder French White is a bit thick, and sitting on it while
you prep turns it into more of an elmers glue constancy and a dream to
apply).  Paraffin dip containers are good - on the lid obviously, not
inside - and you can throw a towel on top to speed up the warming -
but its not as hot as mug warmers and such so it doesn't risk
overheating.
