I think sitting across from her, w/ no table between is the way to go.
You'd end up playing kneesies, but what the hell?  As long as you both chew
some gum first it should be ok.  Ok, so sit across from her w/ you table on
the side so you can reach all the things you'll need.  After she's prepped,
put on the firs coat of shellac, hold the lamp up to her hand and cure.
Repeat w/ each additional layer.  Hopefully she's got a good sense of humor
and you two can work it out as you go along.
