I use a regular 2 x 2 cotton-filled gauze pad, folded roughly in 4ths, with foil to soak off. You don't really need more than that. I usually use the drill with a fresh sanding band to lightly dust the topcoat off of one hand, slather all 5 fingers with lotion (really protects against acetone dryness and doesn't stop the acetone from working), wrap that hand and set aside. Move to hand #2, whisk top coat off, slather, wrap and set aside. Go back to first hand and take foil off 1 finger (press down and pull off as much as you can). Use a spoon shaped cuticle implement to GENTLY push product down off the nail. If it's not coming off easily stop with the implement or you'll get trauma (delamination)! Use a hand file to gently roll remaining product off, and shape the free edge. Move to 2nd finger, until all 10 are clean, shaped and prepped for new application.
This service can be done in 30 minutes if you pull everything out at the beginning while client is scrubbing up. In my spare time (hah!) I tear foil strips that are about 3 inches wide and about 6 inches long (I pull out enough foil that if you tear that piece in half you would have 2 square shapes, then I tear the squares in half). I pull off several pieces, stack them and then using the edge of my desk top I tear them in smaller pieces. HTH! If the cotton ball is to big, it soaks the solution back up away from the nail. Use the shiny side of the aluminum foil down on the nail this also helps speed up the soaking off process. It takes me about 45 to 50 minutes to soak off and put a new gel on. 30 minutes with no soaking/no walking to the bathroom to scrub nails.
