Back when I first started in the nail business I worked at a NSS. "Solar
Nails" was $40 when their full set was $20 or $25. When they did Solar
Nails, they still glued on a tip, but just put white acrylic over it, then
put the same clear acrylic underneath (lol--didn't even use pink). I asked
many times what they were when I first came to work there (since the owner
of the shop always had to do any "solar nails" of course, since it cost
more) and always got a really vague answer, so I just saw it for myself.
Same deal with "gels"...they used the same acrylic that they used for
everything else (but amazingly, it had then turned into a "gel powder"),but
then they would top it off with a UV top coat and call it gel nails.
