Aimee, I got those too. In our city hall, there is a sign posted that a 2.8% fee is added for using debit cards. I believe we determined that those fees aren't illegal, but "guidelines" that Visa and MC have employed. Of course they have! They don't want us charging the customer to use their cards! We pay interest to accept the cards, they pay interest to carry a balance. There's money being made everywhere!
