The majority of people who use their credit card at the salon, elect to skip the receipt. The ones that want one, ask for a text. I have very few who use email and we do about 20-25 transactions a week.
Fees are just as Kelley posted, except, there is a per transaction fee for hand keying, which is 15 cents. You should only be hand keying in something like a gift certificate sale over the phone. There are NO per transaction fees for swiping and NO monthly fee and NO fee if you don't use it. You only pay when you use it. She will not find anything even close to this with any other service. You get a free reader, all of the compliance things are usually in the receipt part of things and that is totally taken care of by Square. With others, you have to upgrade terminals, software, etc. You have to batch before the end of the evening or there is a fee. WIth others, it is just fee after fee after fee. Square is a sweet deal.
