Hi Lauren,
Have you had an open house for your new salon yet? Try networking with
other businesses to maximize the turnout. Such as... contact a local florist
and see if they will provide flowers/plants and business cards so clients will
know where the flowers came from. How about a bakery or cookie shop? They
might provide refreshments for your open house, and you can promote their
business by displaying the business cards. A restaurant? A Winery? Massage
Therapist? Mary Kay? Pampered Chef? You get the idea. The more businesses
you involve, the more people you will reach for your open house. Are there
other businesses nearby that would want to do a holiday open house with your
event? So customers can walk from one business to the other and check them all
out? Do the other businesses want to do drawings for door prizes? You can
have tickets for the potential customers to fill out with their name and
address/e-mail. Have a nice sign in sheet so they can register as they walk
in, (like a guest registry for a wedding) Take them on a tour, introduce staff
members, have proper signage for prices, services, hours of operation etc.
Make sure you offer door prizes/gift certificates for the clients to redeem at
their next appt! Can you do a hand/arm massage during the open house?
Paraffin dips? Nail Art? Sell gift certificates for Christmas at the open
house also! Have lots of business cards and brochures available. Display
your flyers for your open house at the other vendors who are participating
(bakery, florist etc.) Make sure your credit card machine is up and running
for the open house, as you will probably have retail to sell also. Put the
event on craigslist, the newspaper, community news, etc. Promote, promote,
promote! You want to have the most talked about event in the town!!!!!!!!
Hope this helps,
Pam

Subject: NailTech:: need to fill book

Hey everyone, I just opened a nail salon two weeks ago. It is myself and three
other girls that rent from me. We are former co-workers and get along really
well. One other girl is very busy, but the other two really need to build. I
am on Facebook, have a website, twitter and I post on Craigs List. I want to
make sure everyone is busy, so we have handed out flyers and such. There are
several salons near by that don't do nails, so I gave them our price sheet and
cards. I'm looking into Skirt magazine for advertising. Has anyone ever used
Skirt and what do you think. Do you have any ideas that I can implement to
help attract new people to the salon? Lauren Dodson
