I have a nice clientelle that has been with me for years. I would like to get a
few younger ones because I would like to still be working when half my clients
will either be in the nursing home or no longer with us. Most younger people
around here go to the discount salons but one young girl did called me three
weeks ago confused about all the different types of gel. She had on acrylic and
was going to one of these places that I mentioned. She came in and I soaked her
ac off, put hard gel and gel polish on her. She called me today to make another
appt. Said her nails were holding up great but her mother n law got Shellac at
her old place and it came off right away. Probably didn't get the mani or they
were not educated on how to apply it. My new client told her it was because she
should of got the hard gel. It is not Shellacs fault they didn't do it right.
It really is a constant battle in my area with all the nss chop shops. I can
say I don't need clients that frequent those places anyway but in 10 or 15
years I will need them so yes in the long run these places do affect my
business.
