After doing last years taxes I discovered that gel manicures- the way I do it- is now 75% of my business. I never soak off, as many techs don't. I keep a very thin layer of Akzentz Natural gel as the base coat - it balances with the flexibility of the colors and gives the strength of an enhancement without needing an arch (it goes against what we normally think is required but it really does work beautifully). If a customer wants extensions, I obviously use a bit more gel and a slight arch- but once their natural nails are to the desired length, the thin layer of hard gel is all that's required to give people 4 weeks of strength with their color on top. I call it the 30 day manicure and charge $55 for what takes 30-50 minutes. My clients are busy and don't have time to come in more than every 3-4 weeks so they absolutely love the 30 day manicure. I've had a client leave to Europe for the summer and her nails lasted 7 weeks.
I only do a traditional base coat, 2 coats of color and top coat gel manicure if a client is planning to soak them off at home it they are only coming temporarily. Anyway if you haven't tried this method and you have clients who want more strength or their natural nails always protected, it's a fabulous trick :) - jess On Apr 5, 1:03 pm, Aimee Nails <[email protected]> wrote: > How do handle a situation of clients hearing from other people that the new > gel polishes help strengthen the natural nails? > I've heard people taking off their acrylic and going to gel polish but I'm > afraid they will expect the gel polish to hold up like traditional gel or > acrylics. > > I thought gel polish is more like polish than any enhancement. > > Aimee > St. Louis, MO > > Sent from my iPhone -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "NailTech" group.
