Thank you, everyone for the input. Most seem to recommend that I say nothing and just not refer clients to her any longer, only Angie suggests trying to talk it out. You're such a sweet person Angie :-) and I'm sure you know who I'm talking about. You've not met her, but I've told you about her in the past so you know how much my friendship with her has meant to me. I have decided to take everyone's advice and say nothing for now, and not refer anyone to her, which is not a problem since I'm not going anywhere on vacation until next year. In a month or two, after the hormone replacement therapy has kicked in, I will invite her to lunch and find out what is going on. Perhaps there is an explanation, perhaps this will be the end of our friendship. I will find out one way or the other. It does not need to be a confrontation if I approach her as a friend who is concerned that she is undercutting herself. What I do as a result of her decision is my decision, not hers just as her decision is hers alone, for better or worse, hopefully we can still be friends even though I'm no longer referring my clients to her when I'm on vacation.
Anna Z-James, wow, you are so right, some people are just not worth keeping as a friend. I will find out if this tech is really my friend or not. And you can never be "too truthful". I value my friends who tell it like they see it. If I surround myself with people who only think exactly the way I do, I will never see a situation from a different perspective. Thank you for your honesty. Still having hormonal flip flops, I go from being mad at her to feeling sorry for her that she is cheating herself.
