I like the idea of a single location every June for example... It's
too bad there isn't a good venue in Ann Arbor - that way Merit could
remove the travel/shipping costs from the budget for that meeting.
Maybe things have changed/grown in Ann Arbor - is there enough hotel
capacity in the summer in Ann Arbor for this to work?

I think this is definitely something worth pursuing (although I'm
going to display my ignorance of the US now and confess that I don't
know what the "top 10 markets" are).

A recurring contract with a hotel might lend itself to all kinds of
cost reductions, especially if we can find one that is on-net for a
generous, NANOG-supporting ISP.
