But, students already get a discount at the conference, and do not get any further discounts, so the student membership is really just costing them money to show nothing. All membership gets you at this point is involvement in the organization, not the activity of NANOG. I think the point that is lost on many people is that NANOG will become an activity of NewNOG. It may be the ONLY activity, but being a member of NewNOG does not mean that you are actively participating in NANOG or network operations.
