Hi Peter,

I agree with you. We do use geofeed as a data source. However, verifiable and
good geofeed only represents a very small source of our data. I deeply respect
your and NANOG community's opinion and expertise.

For us, operating at a global scale where we have to process billions and
billions of IP addresses from thousands of network operators. You will be
surprised how little accuracy is in the geofeed.

Active measurements represent a practical improvement over a theoretical
geofeed system that is consistently true, verifiable, and accurate. Geofeed is
a trust-based system, and our customer base largely is in cybersecurity where
"zero trust" is their foundational principle.

For example, you mentioned that we do not correctly map your prefixes. A single
support chat message could help us fall back to using your geofeed as we get
the region right based on active measurement. Just a single message from you to
our support is why I am here. The active measurement will still be used as a
foundational layer of data, while we will use your geofeed to improve the
granularity of the data.

But if you want me to make this mutually beneficial arrangement, sell us a
server in your facility: https://forms.gle/kNYr2MBL8zRPgNrJ8

I am here for absolute accountability. The reason I am here is to ask you to
please tell me if you see an error, like you have shared here. That added layer
of verification of geofeed could be considered as someone just telling us that
we are wrong, or ideally, allowing us to purchase a server with you. That way
we can guarantee constant accuracy.
