Hi Peter,
Have you looked at the vb6 task in nant-contrib ? It does some dependency scanning but maybe not quite to the level you are describing. Would the task you are looking at building be suitable for general use or is it specific to your project ?

I don't have an answer to your question, but...

I'm also in the process of building a Nant task to compile a VB6 project.
I'm attacking a different problem, though:

I have a C# script that builds a dependency tree from a fileset of VB6
projects. This way I can build everything in the proper order. I haven't
turned it into a task yet, although I intend to.

I also search the path for references that do not exist, and intend to remap
certain references to other locations, which sounds vaguely like what you
are doing.

Anyway I thought I'd bring that up in case you felt like collaborating.

Best,

Peter

Subject: [nant-dev] Unit Testing a new NAnt Task

In trying to use NAnt to build a legacy web system, I added a task to support editing some parameters in a VB6 project file. Not too complicated with the the examples I found on the web (thanks to all at Relevance)

However, this is all part of an effort to improve the testing and deployment
processes here - and I couldn't unit test my add-on. (NUnitv2.1)

Has anyone any experience of setting up a NUnit stub that can support the
passing of parameters into the new Task?

Many thanks
