So if I understand you right, the components will automatically be mapped to the directories, and I don't have to specify them, just the feature(s) and the directory structure? If so, that makes a big difference (I already have a script snippet that generates the xml structure for the directory tree). And I also agree, that being able to use an implied directory structure would help a big plus. Unfortunately, modifications to the task are riskly before the proposed refactoring is done to (at least) to remove the duplication -- hopefully we'll have some unit tests after that too.
