JOB DESCRIPTION POSITION: Tobacco Use Cessation Program Assistant PAY: $9.00-$11.00/Hr. 40 hours per week 52 Weeks SUPERVISOR: Indian Education Center Coordinator MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: o High School Diploma or equivalent o Must pass DMV Clearance, fingerprinting under FBI, DOJ or equivalent guidelines, TB and Hepatitis testing o Must Pass Basic Tobacco Health Quiz o Must have knowledge of computer operations and basic business machines o Must have work history substantiating dependability and reliability; ability to complete detailed work with accuracy; and, ability to discharge work functions with minimal supervision. o Must have excellent personal and professional communication skills o Must be familiar with the culture and traditions of local tribes DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS: o Training in health field, tobacco cessation or related fields o 6 months experience working with children in a formal setting o Familiarity with Macintosh computers RESPONSIBILITIES: The Tobacco Program Assistant will, accumulate traditional knowledge about the use of tobacco by working with tribal elders, create and implement learning activities and curriculum to teach students about appropriate versus inappropriate tobacco use. Maintain records and documentation of student participation, work with project consult on internet project development, provide a schedule of upcoming events by writing newsletter articles. Sample duties include: o Prepare activity schedule o Supervise Tobacco Project activities o Provide cultural activities o Enforce safety rules and emergency procedures o Keep IEC Coordinator informed of project progress o Attend appropriate parent meetings, potlucks and fund raisers o Record daily student attendance o Substitute for tutors as necessary o Perform other job related duties which may be assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the program and the Agency Job descriptions available at NCIDC Office 1607 Fifth Street Crescent City, or call (707) 464-3512.
