THE FREEDOM TOUR 2002 JULY 25 - AUGUST 20, 2002 NYM HIP HOP SHOW & SPEAKERS Native Youth Resistance: Taking Back the Land-Who's Going to Stop Us The Freedom Tour 2002 This summer the FREEDOM TOUR will travel trough northern Turtle Island (Canada & Northern US) to visit Native communities and outreach to Native Youth in order, to unify our struggle and re-instill pride in being the Caretakers of Mother Earth. Through conscious hip hop and empowering speakers, from Native Youth movement and Elders, the FREEDOM TOUR intends to educate and inspire Native youth to defend their People and Territories and break FREE from destructive, evil practices and foreign ways forced upon us. The FREEDOM TOUR will consist of Native youth and Elders from across Turtle Island. The FREEDOM TOUR will travel from Squamish Territory (BC) to the League of Indigenous Sovereign Nations Gathering and Ceremony in Piscataway Territory (Maryland). Here we will gather and council with Indigenous Peoples troughout Turtle Island to discuss and organize a stronger unified front of RED NATIONS. AS NYM WE ACCEPT NO GOVERNMENT FUNDING, THEREFORE, OUR SOLE FINANCES COME FROM FUNDRAISING, PERSONAL CONTRIBUTIONS & INDIVIDUAL DONATIONS. THE NYM FREEDOM TOUR 2002 IS IN NEED OF FINANCIAL DONATIONS. NYM is commited to uniting our Indigenous Nations across Turtle Island, in order to defend & liberate our Lands, water and People. Our obligation is to revive our cultures and relive our original instructions from the Creator so we may live free within our territories once again. We receive our direction and ancient teachings through our Elders, prophecies and spiritual ceremonies. NYM uses hip hop as a tool of resistance and outreach to Native youth. War Club is a hip hop group comprised of two NYM members, Ryakin and Rymahawk. They will be performing on the tour, along with speakers and traditional singers and drummers.
