I have an aunt who is 1/2 Apache....sad thing is, she wants nothing to do with her Native heritage and gets angry with me when I try to talk to her about growing up on the rez Arizona....or is it New Mexico...don't remember now....but she's all about living in the "white world," has told me there is no redeeming quality to anything "Indian," and says she can't understand why I want to "live like a savage" and know more about my uncle's (her husband) and my father's People and heritage (Cherokee)......says it's stupid..... She is very angry and bitter about her "identity," her childhood and growing up "half-breed," I know that much....what little she's told me, she told me through clenched teeth....I don't ask her anymore questions.....if she feels i need to know something, then, I believe she will tell me then.....
