PROGRAM SCHEDULE for Dec 7 - Dec 11, 1998:
MON - 12/7: Music Maker Edition- Primeaux & Mike
On this Music Maker Edition we'll feature the spiritual sounds of Primeaux
and Mike. These artists have fused the songs of the Native American Church
with the background of contemporary music like no other artists have done.
Tune into this very special Music Maker edition as we celebrate this holiday
season with Primeaux and Mike.
TUE - 12/8: Indian Fraud:
Believe it or not being an enrolled member of an Indian tribe does offer
some opportunities. Tribal members are eligible to get money for school, job
training or start-up business loans. But there are those who have claimed
to be Native and weren't and have fraudulently acquired money. How can we
stop the fraud and abuse in Native Funding programs? Guests include Dr.
Jerry Bread.
WED - 12/9: Weaving Native Values into the Business World:
As more and more Native people enter the professional business world the
question of cultural values has become an issue. Native professionals are
now looking to incorporate elements of Native philosophy into their business
practices. How do Native values enrich our business endeavors and
enterprises? Guests include Attorney Cheryl Fairbanks & Business owner
Wynema Morris.
THU - 12/10: The States vs. The Tribes:
It looks like the Hunting and Fishing rights of the Great Lakes Tribes may
be in jeopardy. The state of Minnesota had challenged the tribe's rights
before the United States Supreme Court and sources close to the case say the
Justices may rule against the tribes. If in fact the tribes loose their
rights how will this affect the other tribes and their rights to live off
the land? Guests TBA.
FRI - 12/11: Combined Families:
Remember the Brady Bunch? Everything always seemed so perfectbut in the
real world, combined families can find themselves in some pretty stressful
situations. Because stepfamilies are so common, we'll discuss ways one can
ease the transition into a new family structure.
