Online Life and Career Mentoring Project for Native Americans

The Native American Village at <http://www.minorities-jb.com/native.htm>
proudly announces its online mentoring project designed to connect
indigenous men and women with indigenous experts in Native and non-Native
business and industry.

"The Internet allows us to venture beyond our borders and explore
opportunities and cultures around the world, but it also shows us how
isolated we are and what we miss when we don't live within our traditional
communities," says Jennifer Hicks, managing editor of the Village ezine.
"For instance, if we work within the dominant culture we often find
different values, curious customs, and unusual attention to timelines,
profit margins, and competitive behaviors. The mentoring project hopes to
alleviate this isolation and answer questions about lifestyle and career
choices by connecting people with questions to indigenous people who can
offer experienced advice."

The project is looking for Native American men and women willing to spend
two or three hours a month interacting with other indigenous peoples
online. The mentors will form a kind of living library from which the less
experienced could extract knowledge as needed. Each mentor will be an
expert at something, acknowledged as having exceptional knowledge in one
or more areas. They won't solve problems, but will be able to provide
guidance to help questioners solve problems themselves.

The Native American Village, part of the Minorities' Job Bank
<http://www.minorities-jb.com>, is dedicated to providing career and
self-development information to all minorities. MJB provides a large
database of equal opportunity employers committed to workplace diversity
and the ezines of its ethnic villages offer political, economic,
spiritual, career, and self-development information from the perspective
of each ethnic group.
