The FCC will hold series of public hearings entitled: "Overcoming Obstacles
to Telephone Service for Indians on Reservations." The first hearing will
be held at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center, 2401 12th St., NW,
Albuquerque, NM from 8am-12:30pm this Friday 1/29/99. Chairman William
Kennard will preside over the meeting along with Commissioner Tristani.
The FCC has invited the president of my organization Karen Buller to
testify at this meeting. We are now preparing her written testimony which
is due to the FCC by tomorrow afternoon. In the spirit of inclusiveness,
we are inviting you to make comments about telecommunications barriers to
access in Indian Country. to If you have any issues you would like to be
presented at this meeting please contact me ASAP. My contact information
can be found below. We will try our best to accomodate your
recommendations in Karen's brief testimony.
