~ JUSTICE FOR DUDLEY GEORGE ~ Protestors at Ipperwash were intimidated,
beaten, slain, and unjustly arrested for standing up for their Aboriginal
Rights. While Queen's Park obstructs ALL efforts to get at the truth through
the courts, Ottawa has the power to call an Ipperwash Inquiry. With
tensions rising across Canada as Aboriginal Peoples claim and assert their
court-recognized rights, it is now more urgent than ever that the federal
government take action on these human rights abuses. By striking this
Inquiry, Ottawa can signal NO! to vigilantes, racists and out-of-control
local politicians and police.
~ FREEDOM FOR LEONARD PELTIER ~ Peltier has spent 23 years in jail for
murders he didn't commit. He is really in jail for the "crime" of a
lifetime dedication of standing up for his Peoples' human rights. November
is Leonard Peltier Freedom Month. The Canadian government must use all
diplomatic means possible to push the US government for Clemency for
Leonard Peltier.
~ THE INTERNATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS COMMUNITY CONDEMNS CANADA & THE USA ~
Leonard and Dudley have become international symbols of the injustices
endured by Aboriginal Peoples in North America. Like countless other
Aboriginal leaders and activists, both have lost their lives (one killed,
one imprisoned for two lifetimes) in a continuation of the unceasing human
rights violations. Hear our speakers address these important cases and set
them in an international context.
